Many people in US and all across the world are struggling with obesity. But what if only being in a particular place encouraged the body to lose weight. Well according to Dr Jameson Voss, being on mountain for only a week can begin to cause weight lose. Obviously physical exercise is required, but the results are shown to be much, much quicker in a mountainous environment. But don't worry if you struggle to get motivated for physical exercise. Because according to Gallup, it is easier to get motivated to physical exercise in mountainous regions. This was backed up by a study that found most of the healthiest and fittest states/counties in the US were high altitude. I also read about another amazing statistic associated with weightless and mountains. Dr Jameson Voss also stated in a 2013 study that "our studies have discovered that living in around sea level increases the chance of obesity by 4 - 5 times! I think that this could really help those who have major trouble losing weight. We hope you found this infomation useful. Ethan & Nick

According to the NCBI, being in mountainous regions is a great thing for mental health. The reasoning behind this is actually quite and I believe it makes sense. Cities and urban areas are not often built up on mountains so the pollution on mountains is less significant than that in low lying built up areas. Mountains specifically are better than other low pollution areas because of increased felling of loneliness. While isolation is bad, spending a day walking through the mountains in smaller groups is great for mental health. According to the NCBI study I read, two groups of people were selected of as close to equal health as possible. One group spent there time walking through populated, but scenic, areas; while the others spent time hiking in mountains. At the end of the day both of the groups were tested and the group in the mountains were, less hostile, less depressed and way more lively than the other group. Also, according to the Chicago Tribune, 7 of the top 10 counties for longevity in the US are high altitude counties. Knowing that you might live longer than others must also be good for mental health, right? At first glance, it may look like living in mountains is a bit stupid. But I believe the reasons above are the reasons people live in the mountains. We hope you found this infomation useful. Ethan & Nick
According to the European Union, if you are living in the mountains you are one of the most disadvantaged areas for farming. The two main aspects of farming, crops and livestock, are both very difficult. Farming in the mountains is extremely challenging for many reasons; not the least of which is the gradient. The sheer steepness of most mountains make it almost impossible to farm. The main way of farming in the mountains is called terrace farming. This is when people layer or level the ground (see the image) and grow plants there. This helps with space and making sure the plants grow straight. Looking after the Livestock is also extremely hard to look after. Some of the main reasons that looking after animals are very hard to look after are the threat of predators, animals running away due to the challenge of providing proper enclosure to keep them in and the lack of food for the animals. All in all, mountainous regions are extremely hard to farm in but it is very important that people do farm. It is essential to living in the mountains. Because of that reason, there are lots of people trying to improve farming in the mountains and making it more sustainable. We hope you found this information useful. Ethan & Nick
According to countless websites on the internet, increased altitude is not a good thing for the body. While this can be true with extreme altitudes, it is believed that people who live at greater altitudes have a smaller chance of ischaemic heart disease (when the heart doesn't get enough blood). I was reading an article by the university of Colorado, Denver, and they stated "people living at higher altitudes have a lower chance of dying from ischemic heart disease and tend to live longer than others" (Linked below). I am, of course, unsure whether this is true, but if it is, imagine the way this could improve treatment. If a lack of oxygen is decreasing the chance, could that become a "cure" that would remove that chance completely? The same study also found that males living 1500 metres above sea level lived, on average, 1.2 - 3.6 years longer, while women lived 0.5 - 2.5 years longer. Obviously this does have a limit, and the same study stated that living above 4900 metres was detrimental to health. We hope you found this information useful. Ethan & Nick
Living isolated doesn't just mean that you feel lonely; though it may, it also has momentous effects on your health. According to the Heathland Time, living in social isolation causes you to live a shorter life. If you live high up in the mountains, you are isolated, not just social isolation but physical as well. I'm not sure if physical isolation exists, but I think it should. Physical isolation is where nothing is close. For example, if you lived in the mountains and you needed to go buy something that was not in your "village", you have to make a long and dangerous journey to a neighbouring village to see if they have what your looking for. This can be very harmful to your body, not to mention the mental traumas you would have if you make it to the village and you item isn't there. Up in the mountains, there is little to no phone signal so you can't just call ahead to see of they have to object. Living in isolation also means that, according to recent social studies, you have a much higher risk of developing mental disorders like depression and anxiety.
